Matt first moved to Bloomington in 2007 to attend IU’s Maurer School of Law. Following law school, he practiced law in Chicago, where he was able to provide over 400 hours of pro bono legal service protecting victims of domestic violence and helping asylum seekers. Matt returned to Bloomington in 2013 and has spent a number of years competing as a professional runner, while also pursuing freelance journalism and building a small business coaching runners. He lives in Bryan Park and is proud to call Bloomington home.
Most recently, Matt has returned to IU’s School of Public Environmental Affairs, where he is pursuing dual master’s degrees. He made this mid-career change in order to work in the public interest on climate change policy, which he sees as one of the defining challenges of our time. Matt believes that climate change is fundamentally a matter of social and intergenerational justice.
